OUR COCONUT OIL IS MADE USING WET EXTRACTION METHOD…

It is also known as fermented. Miles apart from the commercial methods that use refining and bleaching, this is the gentlest way to make coconut oil, with zero heat or extreme pressure used at any time. It is also the method that respects the oil’s valuable nutrients:

    • The volcanic soil on our farms; packs our coconuts full of phenolic antioxidants that help our bodies temper the effects of free radicals and fight off infections and inflammation
    • Lauric acid. Just like human mother’s milk, raw coconut oil is rich in lauric acid that supports our body’s immune system. Thus our process was selected to ensure the integrity of this vital element.

At every stage of the production we make a conscientious choice to treat the product as gently as possible to keep these amazing health benefits intact. While this means that we extract a little less volume from each coconut, it makes our oil richer, healthier, and guarantees an exquisite taste.

IT STARTS WITH THE “NAKED” COCONUT…
We work only with certified organic farms. Our fresh coconuts come directly from the farmers which are harvested in remote locations far away from polluted metropolitan areas and on wild plantations that are family owned but not cultivated in any way. The farmers have already de-husked the coconuts and repurposed the husks as fuel. We de-shell by hand and donate the shells to a local home vegetable gardening group to add to their soil to improve drainage. From husk to shell, nothing goes to waste.

 

GETTING READY FOR LOTS OF PRESSING…
As soon as the coconuts arrive to our plant, no more than 24 hours after they have been picked, we shred the fresh coconut meat in our hammer mill to make the pressing easier. Then, we put it through a traditional screw press to extract the coconut cream. Once we have the cream, we transfer it to our stainless steel holding vats to get the separation process started. No toxic plastic vats here.

 

LETTING NATURE TAKE ITS COURSE…
Where others may take shortcuts like heat or chemicals, we wait patiently for 12-16 hours to let the oil naturally separate. The patience is well rewarded – the natural separation produces oil that is crystal clear, full of flavor and with the intoxicating scent of coconuts.

OUR METHODS RESPECT TRADITIONS…
yet our approach is up to the latest thinking, without any shortcuts. We use only organically certified nuts, we ferment and filter in stainless steel tanks, not plastic, and we clean our factory and equipment with steam cleaners, without harsh chemicals.
